Your Doctor may have suggested cortisone injections or surgery for your painful joints. But wait — there is a more natural approach that is highly effective. So effective you may never need cortisone or surgery.
WHAT IS PROLOZONE?
Prolozone Therapy AKA Ozone Therapy — is a non-surgical, homeopathic, oxygen injection technique developed and pioneered by Dr. Frank Shallenberger MD
NOTE: at the end of this article I will share my personal experience with Prolozone therapy.

HOW IT WORKS
The treatment uses ozone injections to stimulate the regeneration and healing process to tendon, ligament and cartilage tissue in areas where injury has occurred. The injections are aimed at activating the body’s natural healing mechanisms.
Doctors use injections of specific vitamins, nutrients and ozone to stimulate the body’s tissues to heal themselves. To keep the discomfort level to a minimum, the doctor may add a mild anesthetic agent.
The ozone increases the function of the vitamins and nutrients. This increases the blood supply. As a result, the treatment site receives a fresh flow of oxygen and nutrients which brings about an increase in cellular repair, lowers inflammation levels, and targets the cause of the pain.amzn_assoc_tracking_id = “onlytoday02-20”; amzn_assoc_ad_mode = “manual”; amzn_assoc_ad_type = “smart”; amzn_assoc_marketplace = “amazon”; amzn_assoc_region = “US”; amzn_assoc_design = “enhanced_links”; amzn_assoc_asins = “B00JAP7388”; amzn_assoc_placement = “adunit”; amzn_assoc_linkid = “922dcff92317de8419d399e6d2488118”; //z-na.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/onejs?MarketPlace=US
CONDITIONS THAT ARE TREATED WITH PROLOZONE
The following list are some of the conditions that are treated with Prolozone therapy. Your Doctor may specialize in any number of these conditions.
Rotator cuff injuries
Post surgery recovery
migraine and cluster headaches
chronic neck pain
Chronic fatigue syndrome, and the list goes on.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED?
A prolozone therapy appointment only takes about 15 minutes but they Doctor may set aside 30 minutes so you have some time for discussion.
Typically, your sessions are spaced at intervals of one to two weeks. A lot depends on the effects of the therapy and your body’s healing capabilities. Everyone is different and every injury is different.
How many sessions you may need can be different than how many sessions I need. Their are many variables involved. Your overall health will play a big part. Some patients seem to find immediate relief and may need only one or two sessions. While others may need six, eight or even more. The longer you have let your condition go the longer it might take to heal.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
Some of the benefits of prolozone therapy, specifically in those with joint and muscle pain, include:
Reduced arthritis symptoms
Improved immune system
You should see an improvement – whatever your being treated for.
WHAT ABOUT SIDE EFFECTS?
Ozone is found naturally in the body. The white cells make it as part of the immune response. Pure medical grade ozone, when used according to the established medical guidelines, has an extremely high safety record.
Prolozone therapy has been used safely for decades. It is very rare to experience anything but positive side effects and is generally a much safer alternative to conventional options.
If their are any negative side effects, the most common would be mild bruising or sensitivity around the injection site. The needles used in prolozone injections are very small and typically cause no problems.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
Your very first appointment may last from 30 minute to an hour. This way the Doctor can become familiar with your history and your concerns. The Prolozone part of your visit should only take about 10 to 15 minutes.
As you respond to treatment, you may find you need fewer injections and possibly, smaller doses of prolozone.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
It can vary from State to State and from Doctor to Doctor. Typical cost in our state is anywhere from $100 – $200 “per visit” while some Doctors might charge that much per injection.
NOTE: It is not uncommon to have several injections at one visit.
DOES MY DOCTOR OFFER PROLOZONE?
It is highly unlikely that your conventional medical Doctor offers Prolozone therapy. You will want to find a NMD (Naturopath Medical Doctor) that offers Prolozone therapy.
It is important to realize that ozone therapy is not a magic bullet, although some patients have had such great results that they may think so. It is not always effective by itself. In most cases it must be combined with an individualized program that address’s your overall health. The better your health, the faster your body will heal. Your Doctor will likely discuss this with you.
Do not hesitate to ask questions when you call to set up your first appointment. This way you will be prepared before you go.
(June 2021) I should have said “our” experience. My husband had hip replacement surgery a year ago this month. At the same time I was suffering with terrible pain in my hip and knee and was afraid I would be next in line for surgery. A friend told me about a Doctor who he was seeing for Prolozone therapy. A couple of weeks later and I was getting my first round of injections.
A couple of weeks after that my husbands other hip started to cause him more pain. Soon after he was getting his first injections. He only needed two visits and his pain was gone. He said he wished he had known about this before the surgery on his other hip.
It has been a different story for me. Mine has been a much slower recovery but it is recovery. By now – I would have probably been on the cutting table twice.
